Week 9 (7/9 – 7/13)

Due to the fact that the Young Dawgs Summer program ended last week, this week was spent winding down, organizing information for the past and future students, planning for next summer, as well as practicing our new plan that we have been working on for the Engage! Conference. Organizing the student information was my smallest task of the week. For the past students, I created an excel sheet consisting of their names, 810 numbers, and high schools to give to the admissions office to see which students had decided to come to UGA in the fall. For the future students, I made sure all documents and trainings were taken care of and organized so they could begin their programs on time. Planning for next summer was another smaller task of my week. I compiled a list of things that I believe should or should not be done next summer. For example, this summer we went to see the Incredibles 2 in theaters. I recommend doing this again next summer because it allowed the students to relief some stress by relaxing during their busy internship schedules. The Engage! plan has been my primary task for the week. My supervisor will be leading a discussion at this conference about experiential learning and I was the guinea pig for the activity. Over the week we have developed the plan of what we want to be done during the discussion and on Friday I did a trial run. The discussion is aimed at getting people to learn hands-on and take the next step. Friday I spent my time taking the next step of my goals to attend nursing school. To do this, I reached out to friends that have gone through nursing school to see what advice they have as well as did some research on nursing schools in the area I am interested in. Overall, I felt as if this trial run was successful and the conference will have a pleasant turn out! Below are the responsibilities and competencies that go with my previously listed activities.
