This week was a little bit different than a normal week. I made sure that the students got to participate in fun activities in order to release stress they may have as the program gets close to the end. On Sunday night I took a few students to the Founder’s Garden and allowed them to take pictures. They had a great time soaking up the sun after being indoors all day. We then walked downtown to get some food and desserts. On Monday night all of the students participated in fun games such as ships and sailors, basketball, tag, etc. I could tell that these activities were really helping the students to relax and have a good time. On Tuesday night I arranged for the students to see the Incredibles 2 in theaters. This was by far their favorite activity. All of the students had forgot about their stress by kicking back and relaxing with a soda and popcorn. During the days, I spend most of my time organizing, planning, and talking to the students. I organize documents and information for the incoming students for the Fall 2018 program. This allows my supervisor to relax and focus on more important tasks. I plan activities for the upcoming weeks to help students relax such as the ones listed previously. I talk to the students over email and in person when I visit their sites to make sure they are doing okay and if there is anything I can help them with. Thus far I can tell that my presence and help is allowing the students, as well as my supervisor, to unwind and de-stress. I have listed the corresponding responsibilities and competencies for the previous activities below.
