This week was the first “normal” week of the program we have had. I began on Sunday night by meeting the students staying in the dorms for check in. That night, as well as the following two nights, I spent time with the students by walking them to get dinner and dessert from downtown, watching television, going on a walk through north campus, playing games and sports such as card games and basketball, and talking about their days and concerns. I feel that these activities with the students are very important for their mental health. These students are minors participating in internships from 9-5 daily. These evening activities help them to relieve stress and relax. My work during the days consists of organizing paperwork, working on presentations and newsletters, visiting the students at their internship sites and planning activities for the evenings. Overall, I am responsible for the students and their well-being. I have listed the corresponding responsibilities and competencies for the previous activities below.
